Jean-Michel Gascuel, born May 23, 1949, in Alès, is a French designer. After studying at the École des Beaux-Arts in Lyon, he became a drawing teacher and taught the subject for a year in Switzerland, then returned to France where he continued his studies in Pierre Schaeffer's "Machines à communiquer" (Communication Machines) program at the ORTF Research Center. At the same time, he pursued a career as a fabric designer for haute couture and women's ready-to-wear (Gucci, Lanvin, Féraud, Yves Saint Laurent, Cacharel, etc.). In the early 1980s, after a sabbatical year, he decided to change direction and began writing songs. He will write for Vivian Reed, George Chakiris, Suzy Andrews, Bruno Grimaldi, Martine Lepage, Cléa Pastore and will release under his own name two albums containing several hits, including "La longue nuit" released in 1982 by EMI, "Le chien aux yeux jaunes" released in 1984 by Epic and "Ça m’fait mal au cœur", an adaptation of a J.J. Cale song, also released by Epic in 1986.
